Fifth-design types on the 15h
The fifth Hradčany design carries different combinations of types of several design elements on different stamp fields. For the 15h, the spiral and crossbar types are relevant.
Spiral types (Is / IIs)
There are two spiral types — open (Is) and closed (IIs). Plates I and II are dominated by closed spirals, which makes open-spiral stamps from these plates sought after. Plates III–VI have the open spiral.
| Plate | Fields with the open spiral (Is) |
|---|---|
| Plate I | 2, 21, 22, 23, 49, 83, 91, 92, 94 |
| Plate II | 15 |
| Plates III–VI | all fields |
| Plate VII | 49, 96 very rare |
Crossbar types (Ip / IIp / IIap)
The long crossbar sits in the left part of the stamp next to the second spiral from the bottom. Type Ip (short crossbar) occupies the vast majority of fields; type IIp (long crossbar) is scarcer and has the subtype IIap.
| Type | Plate and fields |
|---|---|
| IIp | Plate I: 2, 4, 5, 15, 17, 91 · plate II: 75, 78 · plate VII: 13 |
| IIap | Plate I: 1, 12, 16, 23 · plate II: 8 · plate VII: 93 |
All the fields listed are highlighted in the position gallery.
